About Bird Song Trust

Bird Song Trust is a family foundation. We were founded in 2020 by a Dutch family who live in the UK, with a strong interest in mental health, especially eating disorders. We were previously known in the UK as the Vogelgezang Charitable Trust, and have worked closely with the Vogelgezang Foundation in the Netherlands. In 2024 we hired our first staff member to run the day-to-day work of the foundation.

We're not currently accepting unsolicited grant applications, but we will publish details of our programmes here once they open, probably in the late autumn of of 2025.

Our Funding Programmes

Eating Disorders Research

Eating Disorders Research

Eating Disorders Research

We want to build a greater understanding of these conditions, of the triggers and causes, resulting in more effective treatment programmes. Our ambition is to fund breakthroughs. We do this by funding research and campaigns, and by funding the development of researchers.

Eating Disorders Services

Eating Disorders Research

Eating Disorders Research

We want to increase support for people living with Eating Disorders and those who care for them. We do this by funding organisations that deliver services directly, mainly in the Netherlands, and to a lesser extent in the UK.

Deprivation

Eating Disorders Research

Deprivation

We want to see thriving families equipped to deal with challenges, breaking cycles of deprivation. We do this by funding organisations that support and strengthen families, tackle homelessness and equip young people.  Our founders are motivated by a strong Christian faith, and many of the projects in this programme area are delivered by Christian organisations or in partnership with churches.
